Make Up For Ever was the first brand I ever heard of to produce HD (high definition) makeup, creating products that looked flawless on HD cameras. Last year they revamped their cult favorite HD Foundation into the new Ultra HD Foundation ($43.00) to maintain their flawless look for 4K Technology - the next generation of digital devices. This means with the high detailed resolution, clarity and color, on screen makeup will still look flawless and undetectable.
"My goal was to cope with the new 4k technology while keeping the main benefits of HD Foundation. Ultra HD Foundation had to meet the perfection needs of pros as well as the everyday needs of all women.”—Dany Sanz, MAKE UP FOR EVER Founder and Creative Director.
The Ultra HD Foundation is a lightweight buildable formula with a medium-to-full coverage. Available in 40 realistic skin tone shades, from Alabaster to Flesh to Dark Brown - nearly a shade or two for every skin tone you can think of. The shade range is the best I have ever seen. Not only is the spectrum fair to deep, but within the range there are colors that are similar yet differ in cool, neutral, and warm undertones. The finish is a skin-like look, while still maintaining coverage and longevity.

I was approached by MUFE and asked to pick a shade from a digital swatch lineup that looked similar to my skin tone. I chose a shade that looked medium and yellow, and they sent me three bottles that may be a match for me. I received Y215 Yellow Alabaster, Y235 Ivory Beige, Y255 Sand Beige - the Sand Beige was the darkest of the three, and I thought it was a good match at first, but as soon as I applied it I realized it was too light to match my chest and body. Having very yellow/olive tones to my skin, I'm surprisingly darker than you'd expect.

After speaking with my MUFE contact, I was sent three more bottles of darker and more yellow shades to try out. After doing a color match process, I determined that shade 118=Y325 Flesh was a perfect match for my face, neck, chest and body.

I found the formula to wear perfectly on my dry skin, even after hours of wear and natural oil production, I only blotted once and never needed touch ups or powdering. My first wear was without a primer. My second wear was with the MUFE Skin Equalizer Mattifying Primer, which I ended up disliking (I'll do a separate review on the primers later on). My third wear, and my favorite combination, was with the MUFE Skin Equalizer Smoothing Primer and Nourishing Primer applied in different areas depending on my skin needs. This combination, specifially with the Smoothing Primer, looked incredibly flawless and so perfect that I found myself ultra vain as I was glancing at my skin often throughout the day! ;)

Overall, I am a huge fan of the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation, and I wholeheartedly recommend everyone run to their nearest MUFE counter or Sephora and request a color match and sample to test drive. They also have the new Ultra HD Stick Foundation and Ultra HD Concealer that I'm very anxious to try soon.
