Blog #9 - New Macrame Ornaments & Website Updates

Happy Fall! 🍂

I seem to be on a good seasonal schedule for this blog, which I love because truly my life moves at the pace of seasons. This past summer I spent time with my kids, lots of baking treats and pizzas, video games, discussions, and overall wonderful quality time together. I was also working on my website for about 2 months straight, restructuring the art prints in my shop to make room for a new membership I’ve created to rent artworks to local small businesses. It was a huge project to organize and I’m very proud of the outcome!

As for the public access art prints in my shop, I have scaled down the selection to primarily 8 inch x 10 inch framed prints. Personally, I think it looks cleaner to offer consistency and declutter the droplist of options. The prints are about $50 each, most of this cost pays for the printing company, I think I profit about $10 per print - which is exactly how I envisioned my art print business to be structured years ago when I first moved away from a popular handmade seller website we won’t name *shmetsy*.

Alongside all of that website restructuring, I worked on a macrame project to release for the holiday season - itty bitty macrame ornaments! I had first made these back in 2020, and sold them all quickly, and then never took the time to make them again - as life gets busy and lifestyle changes take priority. So, this year, I planned ahead - the design, the colorways, the inventory scale - and they all turned out SO CUTE! I like to use these as filler ornaments in our Christmas tree, but during the rest of the year, I hang them from doorknobs around the house. I’ve also had friends who hang them on their art walls, in between larger pieces of their collection. They are available now in my shop, under Macrame, and are priced at $10 each. And this time, if they sell out (which I don’t think they will), I’ll be prepared to restock if needed, because I hope to keep these as permanent offerings on my website.

"Mina" Macrame Ornament Hanging
$10.00

Handcrafted fiber art hanging.

The “Mina” design is an itty bitty size, 4 inch width, 7 inch length when hanging. This macrame is so cute to make, it started years ago as Christmas ornaments, and now I’ve added more colors to fit the seasons :)

There are six color variations available:

  • Spring

  • Summer

  • Fall

  • Winter

  • Halloween

  • Christmas

That is all of the updates I have for now :)

What I’m currently doing in life is simply creating more art!! I’m so excited to be at this stage because it has been about 3 years since I stopped my daily sketchbooking, weekly illustrations, and monthly paintings. I prioritized building my website to house my coaching business, art shop, and membership, all with the end goal of getting back into my desired artist lifestyle - and I’m finally here! I’ve even put together an artist bag to take out of the house and do some work in local parks or coffee shops. I filmed a short video sharing what’s in my bag for my youtube channel, so I’ll include that video here too.

As I create new artworks, I’ll be updating my art print offerings on a regular basis, and I’ll include them in my blog/newsletters for those who aren’t stalking my shop ;) So far I have had requests for more florals, skies, and abstracts - perfect for me since those are my favorite styles to create. I’m also planning to expand my botanical studies so I can learn more elements to include in my works, as well as insects because I feel like popping in a few winged creatures would be a sweet touch to the floral compilations I put together.

And then as a secondary study, to break up the focus on nature, I want to explore more still life, in the style of my Garden Brunch artwork - centering around foods and meals, the vibes of presence and nurture in a nostalgic palette. There’s a comforting air these types of artworks have that I personally am drawn to, they always remind me of the art I would see in the local restaurants I went to as a child with my grandparents. Pieces of culture, in a painterly fashion, giving almost folk art simplicity in imperfection. I’m most excited about this exploration, and I want to take my time in creating these types of works with beautiful intention.

That is everything I have to share for this blog post 💖

I hope you all are enjoying the season and the rest of the year.

Thank you for supporting my business, and continuing to connect with me :)
