Blog #4 - coaching open, painting, sewing, reading
Hello hello! Happy September, full blood moon, 9/9 portal! Lots of beautiful energies flowing around us lately :)
Last week was the first week my website was fully live and all the elements were completed. In my last post I shared that I designed and listed numerous art prints - well, I added more! This current selection is a variety of pieces I’ve created from 2017 to recent. This was a big project to take on, lots of hours digitally editing my sketches, illustrations, and paintings - I made sure to pick artworks I’ve shared online that received the warmest responses so that these pieces are collectible.
Within my website work, I completed my About page - in the theme of a MySpace page because I’m a millennial that misses the simplistic beauty of social media without over-stimulating ad space clutter. There’s a song that can be played while scrolling, a little chill bossa vibe, a Get To Know Me quiz, my Top 8 books, and some cute little digital dolls that I made with a couple character apps my daughter tends to send to me to play with her :)
Last website news, I finished the final draft of my Life Coaching page and setup the subscription service to now be open for future clientele. It is currently set at $222 a month, with the intentions of doing seasonal signup promotions at a lower cost. I go into more detail on my coaching philosophy and business model preference on my coaching page, so if you’re interested in reading all of that, please check it out. I’m so pleased with how it came together, after 3 drafts of the web page, hours of days of writing out my thoughts, and numerous friends proofreading my work before finalization. I plan to spend the rest of my life, coaching people through shifts, transitions, and evolutions - so this first launch of business is full of love and gratitude. I still need to celebrate the launch with myself, but I’ll do that later haha
In my art life..
I started some canvases that I painted with leftover paint I mixed for a couple of frames I hung up in my office a few weeks ago - a vintage pastel grassy green and a sweet soft periwinkle. I like to mix custom colors often, and I always use up the remainder of the paint to fill sketchbook pages for future drawings, or cover small canvases if I have them in my inventory of supplies to use up. I kinda painted over the majority of the green, but it was a nice under-painting for the sheer neon green I layered on top before layering other neon colors to create a cool rainbowy backdrop for the foliage design I added as the main illustration. I got to use some new acrylic paint pens I ordered from tiktok, love them!!! The acrylic brush pens I also got, not exactly great for this project, but maybe on mixed media paper would be better. Next up I’ll do the periwinkle canvas, still pondering a vision for it :)
In my sewing life..
I started working on a pile of fabrics I had pre-cut in my stash for my tie knot bags, there are 8 bags in total to make. I just finished the first one as of typing this draft - I’ll work on the rest of them all this week. After that I’ll get some photos taken and work on listing them in my shop. I’m a bit bummed that I don’t have extras of these bags, ideally I keep one of every bag I make for my own collection - but these fabrics were all scraps I had from other projects, or clearance finds from fabric shops over the years. My goal with my fabric stash is to work through everything I have right now, so I can enjoy buying new fabrics hahaha
In my reading life..
I finished a life coaching textbook, and I’ve got another one on my shelf to start at some point this year. It was pretty straight forward, and for me, highly intuitive so it felt validating in that my internal compass and skills are where they need to be for successful coaching. My style of education is to always be learning, observing, and absorbing knowledge - there is no end :) I also started a personal read from my never-ending collection of Book of the Month books, The Book of Lost Hours by Hayley Gelfuso. I’m really enjoying it so far - I’m about 5 chapters in. Oh! I also listened to two books on YouTube over the last week, You Are Not Broken, and No One Is Coming To Save You, both by Christopher Burkett - 1/2 of the 2BeBetter Podcast that I love love love to tune into. His books! They have healed me and taught me so much, I comment such words of gratitude on his socials often - it’s truly special for a healed man to exist in a role online to teach and heal other men - in a public way where women get to witness and experience as well.
That’s all for now! Living life, working hard, maintaining balance and inner peace ✨🤗✨
